Important Update Regarding Division Membership
The New Mexico Mental Health Counselors Association (NMMHCA) has a long and valued history with NMCA. While NMMHCA was originally a division of NMCA, it became a separate affiliate organization in 2024. Since that time, NMCA has continued to support their work by managing NMMHCA memberships within our system.
As NMMHCA continues to grow as an independent association, they will now take on full responsibility for managing their own membership. As such, NMMHCA will no longer be a division option within NMCA membership moving forward. Individuals wishing to join or remain connected with NMMHCA will need to do so directly through their organization.
NMCA is grateful for our shared history and look forward to continuing a positive affiliate relationship. NMMHCA will continue to be invited to participate in NMCA’s annual conference and other collaborative opportunities, and NMCA’s Board will continue to explore the best ways to support our affiliate relationships.
We want to remind you that NMCA membership remains strong and full of value. Membership continues to include the option to join our division, New Mexico Counselors for Social Justice (NM-CASJ), at no additional cost. As part of this benefit, NM-CASJ offers quarterly continuing education opportunities for free to its members. Combined with NMCA’s quarterly CE’s, that’s 8 total CE workshop opportunities to look forward to.
We’re also excited to announce that NMCA will be launching a brand-new website in July, featuring a members-only section dedicated to supporting your professional development and business success. This new platform will make it even easier to access resources, stay connected, and grow within our statewide counseling community.
Looking ahead, we’re already preparing to celebrate a major milestone: NMCA’s 70th anniversary in 2026! Plans are underway for a truly special conference that will honor our history, elevate our work, and celebrate the counselors who have made seven decades of impact possible.
We wish NMMHCA continued success in this next chapter and look forward to ongoing collaboration between the two associations.
Thank you for being a part of NMCA and for supporting the counseling profession in New Mexico.
