NMCA Divisions

The New Mexico Counseling Association serves a coordinating role for six divisions:

New Mexico Mental Health Counselors Association, NMMHCA:

The New Mexico Mental Health Counselors Association serves professional counselors who work in community mental health centers, public or private agencies, private practice or prevention oriented settings and who hold a master's degree or doctorate. This division promotes the standards of preparation for private practitioners. New Mexico Association of Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling, NMASERVIC:

The New Mexico Association of Spiritual, Ethical and Religious Values in Counseling serves professional counselors and human development specialist with interests in the area of spiritual, ethical and religious value issues in counseling. New Mexico Career Development Association, NMCDA:

The New Mexico Career Development Association serves professional counselors and human development specialist employed in schools, colleges, rehabilitation agencies, corrections, mental health areas, private business, and private industry. This division promotes support and recognition of counselors and other personnel who are interested in the theory and practice of career development over the life span, helping people make initial career choices as well as mid-life and later choices. New Mexico School Counselor Association, NMSCA:

The New Mexico School Counselor Association serves professional counselors who work primarily (50% of their work time) in school settings, who are interested in activities having an impact on a student's success and well being and who hold a master's degree. The division defines and advances the role of school counselors at all educational levels. It promotes the state-wide recognition of this important educational component. The New Mexico Advocates for Social Justice, NMASJ:

The New Mexico Advocates for Social Justice is an organization designed to address the work of counselors in the larger context of the community. We seek to promote social justice as a fundamental principle for implementing counseling and development strategies though advocacy and conscious interventions. As an organization we seek to be alert to the current as well as knowledgeable of the tradition, weaving them into a self-renewing, viable, and relevant forum. Click HERE for more information.
